According to Moviepilot, it’s been confirmed that Alan Ritchson (star of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Smallville) will be acting alongside Megan Fox (April O’Neil) as Raphael, who is admittedly cool, but rude. Now, I don’t know if Alan (we play basketball together) is exactly qualified to play this role , seeing as how he’s long past the permitted age to play a teenager and would possibly reach Luke Perry level of incredulity. Plus, the turtles are always depicted as being slightly on the smaller side in terms of stature and Alan is 6ft 2. Also, he looks like this:
I just don’t think he fits the physical description of a short, stout, muscly ninja turtle AND it would be a disservice to a large portion of the population to cover all that in CGI motion capture suits for the duration of the movie. Sure, the franchise is open to interpretation and I might come off like an idiot fan boy arguing over the actor’s height, but let’s be honest here. Imagine if we painted the dude green and gave him a back shell.
This is roughly what it would look like. Now, the actual CGI motion capturing process will probably look slightly more crude, but don’t quote me on that. I’m not even sure what a turtle is doing in a skinny jean.
